Hey guys,

I have just started using ebay. I resently received a question from another person concerning the quality of a particular seller's dvds. When I tried to respond, after I finished writing the message, I got to that damned visual verification. There was no alternative to reading it and typing it in. No audio file, no contact ebay to assist you.

THere was a have a problem contact ebay, so that's what I did. I explained that I am blind and therefore can't read the image. Do you know what the rep told me to do? He told me to increase the font size. I mean what part of "I'm blind" do they not understand. So I responded and told him that wouldn't do me any good since I'm blind.

This is the first problem I"v had with ebay. I was able to purchase items with out the visual verification. What I want to know from anyone on here are two things. One. His anyone else had this problem with ebay, and if so, how'd you deal with it. And my second question is, is not providing an alternative to the visual verification breaking some sort of law?

Jen

I usually say "I am blind and therefore unable to see the image." That gets the point across.

yeah well I said that in both my first e-mail and my second e-mail. Hopefully, it'll get through the second time around.

Good day to all. Thanks for sharing this rather unpleasant information. I have had an EBay account and have bought and sold and have never had problems with answering questions to buyers or sellers. This must be a new thing they are doing. It seems like we will be confronted by this more and more and hopefully lots of e-mail to the admins of these sights will inform them that they need to be awayr of people who can't read there little boxes and the need for audio versions. I have a sighted associate who couldn't see the letters and also used the audio versions. It seems like MicroSoft and aol have actually done a good job with this. Let's hope this will trickel down to others that are implimenting this technology.

Yeah it's a new feature. That's what they told me. But yesterday, instead of receiving an answer to my second e-mail, I received a customer service survey. So believe me, I was very harsh and vocal about my problem. But I was fare. I mean there was a question about if the rep was knowledgeable about the material he e-mailed me, and if the directions were clear. Even though he didn't answer my question, the directions were clear. So he got a positive mark for that. But there were comment boxes, and I did indeed comment. lol
